abstract = "Este trabalho apresenta o estudo e o projeto de um modelo
experimental de um atuador do tipo roda de rea{\c{c}}{\~a}o. Sua
aplica{\c{c}}{\~a}o est{\'a} no controle fino da atitude de
sat{\'e}lites artificiais atrav{\'e}s da troca de momento
angular entre a roda e o sat{\'e}lite. As rodas de
rea{\c{c}}{\~a}o s{\~a}o constitu{\'{\i}}das, por um motor
el{\'e}trico que aciona um volante e {\'e} comandado por um
m{\'o}dulo eletr{\^o}nico que exerce o controle do seu torque ou
da sua velocidade. Esta eletr{\^o}nica {\'e} ligada {\`a}
l{\'o}gica de controle de atitude e {\'o}rbita do sat{\'e}lite.
O trabalho divide-se em: 1) an{\'a}lise dos diversos atuadores do
tipo rotor existentes, particularmente das rodas de
rea{\c{c}}{\~a}o com mancais rolamentos e magn{\'e}ticos; 2)
estabelecimento das especifica{\c{c}}{\~o}es e projeto
mec{\^a}nico; 3) an{\'a}lise, projeto e simula{\c{c}}{\~a}o
digital do sistema de controle de velocidade; 4) testes de
caracteriza{\c{c}}{\~a}o e sua compara{\c{c}}{\~a}o com os
resultados relativos {\`a}s rodas dispon{\'{\i}}veis no
mercado; 5) testes de desempenho e confronta{\c{c}}{\~a}o com os
resultados obtidos em simula{\c{c}}{\~a}o digital. ABSTRACT: The
study and design of a reaction wheel experimental model are
presented. A reaction wheel is used in the fine control of
artificial satellite attitude by exchanging angular momentum
between the wheel and the satellite. Reaction wheels consist,
basically, of an electric motor that drives the wheel and is
commanded by an electronic module that controls its torque or its
speed. This electronic module is connected to the satellite
attitude and orbit control logic module. The work is divided into
the following steps: analysis of the several momentum actuators
focusing in particular ball and magnetic bearing reaction wheels;
settlement of specifications and mechanical design; analysis,
design, and digital simulation of the speed control system;
characterization tests and their comparison with results for
reaction wheels available in the market; and performance tests and
their comparison with the results from digital simulation.",
